The JCBL (The Japan Contract Bridge League) will be hosting the fourth Pacific Asia Bridge Championship Games (PABF, formerly known as the FEBF) from May 15th to May 24th at the Kobe Bay Sheraton Hotel & Towers and the Urban Gourmet Port. The JCBL has hosted the 2nd (1958), 8th (1964), and 23rd (1979) FEBF Championship Games in the past, and are looking forward to hosting this year's PABF Championship Games after nearly 20 years.
Kobe has been chosen to be the site for hosting the 1998 Pacific Asia Bridge Championship Games so that players, both from within and outside Japan, may take this opportunity to actually see the remarkable recovery of Kobe following the disastrous earthquake of 3 years ago. One of our main objectives for hosting this year's Games is to invite as many participants as possible to visit Kobe, with sincere hopes that the event will serve to support and encourage the people of Kobe - through bridge, sightseeing, shopping or other activities.
The Games scheduled to be held during the period will include the PABF Championship Games for Open, Women, and Youth Teams, the PABF Open Pair Games (all participants welcome), and "The Kobe Bay Sheraton Cup" (an open pair tournament). There will also be a "Continuous Pair Game" (a stratified pair tournament) which will be held for 4 days in a row, 1 session per day, together with a 2 session pair tournament and team tour
nament as well. All players are invited to participate in the games of their choice while enjoying the hot battle of the PABF Championship Games.
